Embark on your guided kayak adventure from Marahau to Observation Beach. You will catch glimpses of the coastal track and experience up close the magic of the Astrolabe Islands. Once finished enjoy one of the great lunches before swapping your paddle for walking shoes. Discover clear streams, native bush and incredible views over the Astrolabe.
Itinerary
8.15am Check in and meet your guide. Your guide will provide tips and a map for your morning walk.
8.30am Walk unguided to Observation Beach approx 3 hrs.
12.15pm Meet your guide at Observation Beach and enjoy lunch.
1.00pm Kayak briefing.
1.30pm Kayak from Observation Beach back to Marahau. If conditions permit sail back home. Kayak approx 2 hrs with breaks.
4.00pm Arrive back in Marahau.

The Two Gods
Between the tides, plants and animals each occupy distinct bands like the forest zones between sea level and the bush-line. Experience these environments come alive as you immerse yourself in the Abel Tasman.
This is a fantastic kayak and walk combo in the middle section of the park. Tailoring the start and finish kayaking points around the tide timetable means on any given departure your experience the best part of the park and are able to explore the marine reserve to the fullest. Explore the realm of Tangaroa, God of the sea and feel the presence of Tane Mahuta, God of the forest on this trip.

10.45am Kayak from Awaroa to Onetahuti. Total kayak time approx 2 hours with breaks.

1.15pm Walk from Onetahuti to Bark Bay. Approx 2 hours, 6.4km.
3.45pm Water Taxi to Marahau.
ONETAHUTI - ANCHORAGE
9.30-9.45am Kayak from Onetahuti to Bark Bay. Total kayak time approx 2 hours with breaks.

1.00pm Walk from Bark Bay to Anchorage. Approx 3 hours, 11.7 (high tide route) or 9.2km (low tide route).
